Winnaar: Wat is de beste VS Cognac + nieuwe Poll

Na ruim 2 maanden met 115 stemmen is er uitslag op de vraag: Wat is de beste VS Cognac?
De meeste mensen (34 stemmen) hebben gekozen voor de Rémy Martin VS Grand Cru, 30 stemmen voor de Hennessy VS, 29 stemmen voor de Courvoisier VS en 22 stemmen voor de Martell VS.

Mijn voorkeur bij een keuze uit deze 4 zou de Courvoisier VS geweest zijn, deze is zacht van smaak met fruitige, bloemige en houtige tonen.

Er is nu een nieuwe stemming op Cognac Review geplaatst: Wie maakt de lekkerste VSOP Cognac? Stemmen is mogelijk, rechts in de zij-balk of onder dit artikel!

The official quality grades of cognac are, according to the BNIC (Bureau National Interprofessionnel du Cognac):

* VS Very Special, or ✯✯✯ (three stars) where the youngest Cognac is stored at least two years in cask.

* VSOP Very Special (less commonly, but officially according to the BNIC, ‘Superior’) Old Pale, where the youngest cognac is stored at least four years in cask, but the average wood age is much older.

* XO Extra Old, where the youngest eaux-de-vie is stored at least six, but average upwards of 20 years.

So, an 18YO Cognac would be an XO according to the BNIC.

I assumed 18YO would mean all cognac is 18YO (which would make it a V.S.O.P.).

I guess it could mean that the youngest cognac in the bottle is 18YO, so it could be that the average might be over 20YO, but that’s a lot of assumptions.

That’s why I said V.S.O.P., what do you think?

Technically (and according the official grades) your 18YO (the complete content of the bottle must be 18yo or older) Cognac would be an XO because the Cognac is older than 6 years.

But the makers are free to give their Cognac a lower grade than official. Such as your 18yo VSOP.
